There’s me, 24-years old and a head full of hair, doing stand-up for the first time at Flying Monkey Theatre at Lowe Mill, 2010

I started doing comedy in 2010, by doing stand-up at a poetry & spoken word open mic in an arts center that used to be a shoe factory in Huntsville, Alabama.

It wasn’t great, but I did get a few laughs in my 5 minutes on stage - but it started something that I kept chasing. Since then, I’ve dabbled in comedy in several roles; performer, host, producer, marketer, promoter. Here’s a timeline of my experience as an amateur comedian in the southeast:

In 2010, I began performing stand-up and improv. I founded Epic Comedy Hour in 2011, serving as host, performer, producer, and brand manager. Through Epic, I gained early experience in show production, audience development, promotion, and social media.

I moved to Atlanta in 2012 to pursue a career, but also improv and comedy more seriously. I performed improv at Relapse Theatre (2012–2014) and took improv classes and performed at Village Theatre (2013–2015). In 2014, I joined Banshee Improv, performing regularly across metro Atlanta through 2017. During this period, I also independently produced shows, including a monthly stand-up showcase (Comedy Squared) and a monthly improv show (The Ten Show) at Theatre in the Square in Marietta. Some of my responsibilities included booking talent, hosting, producing, branding, and marketing.

Around 2018, I shifted focus to my career in trade show graphics production. Here, I gained additional experience in operations, logistics, deadlines, budgeting, and managing real-world constraints. In 2020, I witnessed firsthand how COVID disrupted both live entertainment and my primary industry, reinforcing the importance of adaptability and ownership.

In August of 2023, I returned to Huntsville and immediately re-engaged with the local comedy community. I joined Open to Suggestions improv troupe, performing regularly around Huntsville (May 2024 - current). For a while, I became deeply involved at Shenanigans Comedy Theatre, where I:

  • Created and produced Player You, an audience-interactive improv show (April 2024 - October 2025).

  • Created and produced Ultimate Improv Challenge, a short-form elimination-style improv show (August 2024 - November 2025).

  • Served as a board member from 2024 to 2025.

  • Established Shenanigans’ first official Ensemble Cast (January 2025), including auditions, rehearsals, and casting.

  • Created and produced The Black Box Comedy Show (February 2025 - November 2025).

  • Took over production and hosting duties for Comedy Reflux (March 2025 - December 2025).

Across all of these shows, I handled programming and creative direction, casting and performer management, hosting and performance, branding, promotion, and audience development.

In November 2025, due to career changes and creative differences, I chose to leave Shenanigans entirely. I’m still a part of Open to Suggestions and perform with them on a monthly basis.

What’s next? Something good…

And now here’s a bunch of photos of me doing comedy over the years (in no specific order)
